I used NMM because I wanted to try a couple of texture replacement mods that had about a trillion files each, so I wouldn't be able to restore the vanilla game if I wanted. I couldn't find the saves in their original location, so I thought that NMM saves the game like Mod Organizer does for Skyrim, per-profile-saves in a different location. All of the mods listed below are installed via this method. To back the saves all you need is to find them and copy-paste them to a "safe" folder (in 99% of the games). If you bought the game via Steam, thatll be in 'SteamSteamAppscommonthe witcher 2CookedPC'.
Consider following Method 1 to enable the console.I wasn't using NMM to backup the saves. Install the latest version of Microsoft Redistributable 圆4 at. You can do this by opening the folder and checking that the files are in there. Make sure you put the files "plugins" folder and the "dssound.dll" into the correct folder (the 圆4 folder).
